Isaiah 45:2-3
New International Version (NIV)
“I will go before you
and will level the mountains;
I will break down gates of bronze
and cut through bars of iron.
I will give you hidden treasures,
riches stored in secret places,
so that you may know that I am the Lord,
the God of Israel, who summons you by name.”
New Living Translation (NLT)
This is what the Lord says:
“I will go before you, Cyrus,
and level the mountains.
I will smash down gates of bronze
and cut through bars of iron.
And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness—
secret riches.
I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord,
the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.”
New King James Version (NKJV)
“I will go before you
And make the crooked places straight;
I will break in pieces the gates of bronze
And cut the bars of iron.
I will give you the treasures of darkness
And hidden riches of secret places,
That you may know that I, the Lord,
Who call you by your name,
Am the God of Israel.”
World English Bible (WEB)
“I will go before you
and make the rough places smooth.
I will break the doors of bronze in pieces
and cut apart the bars of iron.
I will give you the treasures of darkness
and hidden riches of secret places,
that you may know that it is I, Yahweh,
who calls you by your name,
even the God of Israel.”
What is the meaning of Isaiah 45:2-3?
In these verses, God is promising to guide and protect the people of Israel. He says that he will go ahead of them and prepare the way for them, smoothing out any rough or difficult paths. He also says that he will break through any obstacles or barriers that may stand in their way, such as doors made of bronze or bars of iron.
Additionally, God promises to give the people of Israel the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places. This could refer to the riches and blessings that God will give them in their spiritual journey, or it could refer to the material wealth and resources that he will provide for them.
Overall, these verses emphasize God’s power and faithfulness to his people, and his desire to bless and guide them on their journey.
