New Living Translation (NLT)

New King James Version (NKJV)

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich”

World English Bible (WEB)

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.”

What is the meaning of 2 Corinthians 8:9?

This verse is talking about the grace of Jesus, who was rich in his divine nature but chose to become poor and humble in human form so that we, who are poor in spiritual terms, might become rich in our relationship with God. This is a reminder of Jesus’ selfless love for us and his willingness to sacrifice himself for our sake.
